Big Transfer Boost for Barcelona before Final?

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has done a remarkable job at Barcelona and the transfer ban has made his achievements even more notable. They did of course bring Luis Suarez to the club last summer so things can’t be that bad.

But you do sense, despite the burgeoning talents of Ivan Rakitic, that Barcelona would have already done more to replace the almost irreplaceable Xavi, had they been permitted to do business over the last year.

Although a completely different style of player, we think that Paul Pogba would be just the man to fill the shoes of the Spanish legend – the Frenchman also has magic in his boots – but, with so many admirers the concern is that Barcelona may miss the boat on this one.

But, in the lead up to The Champions League final, the player is quoted as saying that he loves Lionel Messi and loves watching Barcelona, which will surely give the fans hope. He is quoted as saying:

Playing with Messi would be a dream come true. He’s the best player in the world. I love watching Barcelona play,

But, in a reminder of his current allegiances, before the biggest game of his career, he continued:

but I also love watching them lose. We know that we’re not favourites but it’s a final. We’re going to give our all. We have nothing to lose and you never know what can happen.

“I never said that the final in Berlin would be my last game. People can believe what they want.”

Of course, if Barcelona do win the Champions League final and, in so doing, complete a treble they probably don’t need too much investment right now anyway.

But if they could have some kind of gentleman’s agreement for any player, Pogba would surely that man. Because, at 22, he’s only going to get better.
