Fluminense have reportedly been in financial trouble for a while and, even though Barcelona are in teh midst of a transfer ban, they have paid the Brazilian club 3m Euros as a down payment on the next great South American talent.
According to ESPN Brazil:
Fluminense settled this week most of its debt with the cast on the backward image rights , vacation and 13 still pending. What few people know, however, it is that the club had a “help ” of Barcelona , which transferred 3 million euros ( £ 10 million) to Petro safes.
The money from the Catalan team was to ensure the right of priority in the acquisition of Gershon
The report suggests that Barcelona will take up the option to sign the 18 year old as early as next year and that it will cost around 17m Euros in total to conclude the deal.
The teenager who wears the number 30 stands at 5ft 9in and has played 7 times for the Brazil U20 side as well as making his senior debut for Fluminense this year. He only signed a new five year deal with his club in November 2014 but this was clearly designed to keep his value high before and during the inevitable interest from abroad.
He’s technically brilliant, as you might imagine, and possesses that most important quality of pace to add to his ball skills.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Barcelona fans: can you see Gerson fitting into the team in the near future or is this a player who will take a few years to reach the first team?

i thin gerson will need time to develop himself even though havent seen him play but barca as a lot of young midfielders that need the break through next season now that xavi is no more is time to give trails to some barca b players b4 january like Halilovis sergi samper even Rafinha that was excellent this season will need to cement his place so there will be competition for Gerson but if he can beat that then it will be nice
