Awesome Foursome

Whatever happens with Raheem Sterling, Liverpool will brush themselves down and kick on for next season. The Sunday Times says that they have big transfer plans of their own, headed up by the potential acquisition of Christian Benteke:

LIVERPOOL are plotting a recruitment drive, spearheaded by the £30m capture of Christian Benteke, that they hope will enable them to make up ground at the top of the Premier League — and help persuade Raheem Sterling to sign a new contract.

James Milner, Danny Ings and Fiorentina’s Brazilian goalkeeper, Neto, are other primary targets as Brendan Rodgers seeks proven talent to enhance his squad.

Benteke: An absolute powerhouse of a footballer but also has remarkable elegance for one so chunky. This rare marriage of skills makes him perfect for The Premier League. He’s taken time to fully recover from the injury which kept him out of the game for over a year but, at 24, he looks like he’s about to eat The Premier League again. With 15 goals in 32 games this season, we think that he’s gettable for Liverpool, but they need to move decisively, with other suitors potentially circling.

Ings: Like Daniel Sturridge, Ings has the pace and intelligence to play in several positions. He can play in the hole, up top or in the wide positions of a 4-3-3. So could we be about to see an attacking triumvirate of Sterling, Ings and Benteke for Liverpool? It could work.

Milner: He’s apparently drawing interest from several big clubs and it’s easy to see why. Milner could be described as a ‘water carrier’ but every team needs a nice measure of industry and Milner offers that in bucket loads. But he also has quality on the ball. Another good signing.

Neto: The 25 year old Brazilian has played with honours for Fiorentina since 2011. Yet to make a full debut for Brazil, but he’s spritely, agile and charismatic.

Let’s see Benteke banging the goals in for fun. Liverpool fans: an ideal signing?

    Happy at Villa. End of!

Why would he want to move to a club in a downward spiral??

Does Villa have a name, reputation, history for instance to beat Liverpool?

In essence, one season under-performance do not makes a club to be heading for downward spiral… Man Utd last season where somewhere below us, where are they now?

Barry, I think u are deluded to think Liverpool is in a downward spiral. Of course, you and I , know that, even if Liverpool faces the risk of being relegated, most players will still jump at the opportunity of playing for Liverpool Fc ahead of Villa. C’mon Benteke, Liverpool is a place u can really call home. Come and experience what it means to play in front of the Kops at Anfield.

Because despite supposedly being in a “downward spiral” Liverpool will still likely finish 10 places higher than Villa, who are only 4pts above relegation with a game to go, and a team finishing 2nd & 5th (or even 6th/7th) in consecutive seasons is still a step up from a team finishing just above the bottom three two years in a row…
