PICTURE: How Manchester United could get Bale and Pogba for around £50m Net

Huge Summer

The big question this summer is how ruthless Louis van Gaal is prepared to be in his drive for success at Manchester United. He could keep going largely with what he has and add a few players to improve the overall depth.

Or he could decide that he needs to make huge changes again – get rid of some of the rot and go big. To do so he would need to make some sacrifices but he might end up with a team that can seriously challenge on all fronts next season.

For example, if you could get Paul Pogba and Gareth Bale on board, would you be prepared to offload Juan Mata and Angel di Maria? For us, the answer is most certainly YES.

spend

We aren’t suggesting that either are bad players. Given another season Di Maria may well return to the blistering form he showed at Real Madrid. And Juan Mata has, ultimately been one of Manchester United’s better performers this season, with 9 league goals.

But our illustration, with some estimated transfer fees, shows that Manchester United could bring in both Bale AND Pogba and still stay within their spending limit this summer. And here is how they could line up come September. Maybe a little light in the striking department – with only James Wilson or Memphis Depay able to fill in at number 9 in Rooney’s absence – but it’s quite some first team.
