Depending on which source you believe Liverpool may or may not have been keen on signing Memphis Depay this summer. Now that he’s gone to Manchester United, Liverpool are said to be tracking another adaptable forward who scores loads of goals.

The Mirror reports:

Liverpool eye Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after missing out on Memphis Depay

The 25 year old has proven himself to be a regular goalscorer over the last couple of seasons with 16 in 48 last season and 22 in 41 this. And while he is happy to play up top he has the modern edge of a forward who is adaptable enough to play anywhere across the front line. With Daniel Sturridge in and out of the side with injury, this flexibility could suit Liverpool.

The Dortmund forward also has 16 in 39 international games for Gabon to prove that he doesn’t need a world class team around him to find the net. With Jurgen Klopp leaving Dortmund this summer we sense that this lad is gettable.

In other news The Sun opines that Liverpool are keen on a Chelsea youngster:

BRENDAN RODGERS wants to kidnap Danish teen defender Andreas Christensen from Chelsea and make him a star.

The 19 year old has only made two appearances for Chelsea, both in the cup, but he’s a big lad of 6ft 2in and has already played 15 times for the Denmark U21s. He certainly has potential.

But let’s see Aubameyang in action. Liverpool fans: keen?
