4-3-3: Manchester United’s Best XI vs Chelsea after terrible injury news – start for Falcao

United

Patched up

Actually it’s not so bad.

The initial feeling, when Louis van Gaal confirmed that Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind, Michael Carrick and Phil Jones were all out of the Chelsea game on Saturday, was of horror. If Manchester United could only have fielded the same side that battered City, they would surely have done the same to The Darker Blues?

But, having assessed the alternatives, Manchester United can still put out a very good side.

RadFal: Has been training well and is fit, sharp and match ready. If ever there was a game to save his Manchester United career, this is it.

Paddy McNair: Hasn’t let Manchester United down once this season and may consider himself unfortunate not to be in the starting eleven anyway – perhaps ahead of Valencia at right back – but this is his chance to shine in the centre of the defence with Chris Smalling. We think that he will be fine.

Luke Shaw: Forget any nonsense that you hear. This man is destined for greatness at Manchester United. He will take time to settle, and persistent injuries have not helped one bit. But perhaps the Chelsea game is where we will see the real Luke Shaw for Manchester United.

Wayne Rooney: Sadly he may have to come back into the midfield because there is literally noone else to do the job that Michael Carrick normally does so well. But Rooney never let’s you down and will always put in a shift.

So here is our eleven with all the injury news. And, actually, we feel that there is room for optimism because, while the defence is heavily affected by injuries, the creative unit is largely intact.

Manchester United fans: let’s have your elevens.
