Benched?

Manchester United’s South American contingent have had mixed fortunes at the club this season. With Louis van Gaal changing his team virtually every week due to injury and form, Marcos Rojo, Radamel Falcao and Angel di Maria have found themselves in and out of the side. They are currently benched but we look at their prospects for a start on Sunday. Pictures Courtesy of Manchester United Twitter feed.

Marcos Rojo

We like this lad. He’s a no nonsense defender with great mobility and a decent shot on him. He is still learning his trade in England but he rarely let’s you down. Had he not disclocated his shoulder around Christmas he may be a regular by now.

It’s a toss up whether he gets the nod ahead of Smalling/Jones on Sunday but we think he might just miss out if Smalling is ready to play after illness.

VERDICT: Benched

Angel Di Maria

Ashley Young has been approaching the ‘undroppable’ category of late with some superb performances for the team. Di Maria is perhaps more of an individual who can change games on his own. He’s been improving of late and we think that he is nearing a return to the first eleven.

VERDICT: Starter

Radamel Falcao

At his best he is as elusive as a flee. But he just hasn’t been afforded the opportunity to get ahead this season. He must be desperate to start but you can’t see him making the team this weekend, now Louis has found a winning formula.

VERDICT: Benched

Manchester United fans: Would you start any of these three?

I would start Rojo instead of Jones, and Di maria instead of Young.
