Title winners?

It’s going to be another big summer in the the transfer market for Manchester United. Even if they don’t qualify for The Champions League there is now a strong sense that Louis van Gaal will be given another year to finish his overhaul of the squad – indeed it makes sense that he should get to finish what he started after making so many changes already.

So who is most likely to come in this summer?

Well Manchester United probably need at least one more centre back, a right back, another midfielder and some more freshness and dynamism up top. We can easily imagine 5 major signings, with another raft of departures. Players like Fellaini, Mata, Evans, Jones, Rafael, Falcao and RvP will feel that they are fighting for their first team futures right now.

Louis will want to inject this side with youth and pace. Players like Paulo Dybala and Memphis Depay would fit the bill for the next vintage. They are both explosive forwards who never stop moving and have the sort of fearlessness so highly regarded at Manchester United.

At the back Manchester United could well go for Nathaniel Clyne, Mats Hummels and Aymeric Laporte (who has again been linked with a move to United this week). And they need another commanding figure in the middle of the park to compensate for the eventual loss of Michael Carrick. But that may have to wait for now.

So here is our current punt on how Manchester United will look come August. The biggest question is can Louis tempt Bale to Old Trafford? He may have to let De Gea go the other way to make the deal happen. Perhaps that’s why he brought Valdes in?

Bale is obviously a good player. But who would win more points for United – Bale or De Gea? The answer has to be a world class goalie like De Gea. So why trade him when we would also have to pay millions of pounds for the privilege? Only allow DdGea to go if he is determined to do so.
