Manchester United lead race for blisteringly quick forward with his club resigned to summer sale

Memphis will ruin defenders

Pure Class

Now we have been howling on about this one for ages. Of all the players that Louis van Gaal could have brought with him from the Dutch squad last summer we thought that Memphis Depay would have been the best option.

Even if he hadn’t properly hatched as a player by last August we felt that he would be a brilliant footballer to secure for his future services – Louis could slowly bed him in to the side in the same way as Adnan Januzaj is being assimilated.

And latest reports suggest that Manchester United are in pole position to secure his services this summer.

Manchester United in pole position to secure deal for Dutch winger Memphis Depay this summer

PSV Eindhoven are resigned to losing the 21-year-old, who shone under Louis van Gaal at the 2014 World Cup

Depay is very much a Manchester United-style player. He’s explosive, brave and has no other thought but to get forward, provide and score goals. He may still be a little rough round the edges but, at just 21, he has all the time in the world to hone his skills and his final ball.

He’s already played 13 times for Holland, scoring a goal for them in The World Cup and generally looking as if he could take the game by storm in the next few years. His pace and power seem perfect for The Prem and we think that, whoever else Louis signs this summer, this one should be a no-brainer for the speed and penetration that he can bring to a sometimes moribund attack.

Let’s see some of his magic. Manchester United fans: keen?
