They say that Manchester United always do things the hard way and that has to be true of this season. Coasting in third at the turn of the year, they have dropped points in most weeks of 2015 and now find themselves clinging on for dear life in the top four, with Tottenham, Liverpool and Southampton lurking ominously.
The strange thing about the Swansea defeat was that it included some of Manchester United’s best football in months. In the first 25 minutes of the second half there was at last some intensity to Manchester United’s play. They kept the ball well and orchestrated wave after wave of attack.
Ander Herrera, a popular choice with the fans, played again and scored again. He must surely stay in the side despite the result last weekend. Because, quite simply, he gives Manchester United a midfield.
RvP hobbled away on crutches and doesn’t deserve a place in the team on current form anyway so it’s time for Falcao in the last chance saloon. That is unless LvG has already decided that he’s off and decides to pick James Wilson instead (providing the youngster recovers from a dead leg sustained on U21 duty this week). But we think that United will just about take this game – a must win match for Champions League qualification.
Here is our best XI. Manchester United fans: let’s have your thoughts.
