Damning Stats for Barcelona man – beginning of the end?

Ouch

FC Barcelona was such a harmonious place during the recent golden era that it’s strange to see the club suddenly appear in crisis.

It’s not like they have lost their star man. Despite the rumours, Lionel Messi is still at the club and firing.

But other, almost irreplaceable players – stars like Alves, Ineista, Xavi and Casillas – are entering the latter stages of their careers and, so far, satisfactory successors haven’t been found.

And Barcelona fans seem to have little faith in the coach, according to a recent poll.

Spanish media outlet, Marca, reveals:

78% think Enrique won’t last until June

We think that Enrique has done a decent job in his first season as Barcelona manager. He can’t be blamed for the average age of the key players in the squad as he hasn’t been there long enough to make big changes.

But signings such as Luis Suarez and Thomas Vermaelen haven’t paid dividends yet and the latest rumours of a spat with Lionel Messi have done nothing to help his image – very few fans are going to aide with any manager over their superstar player and hero – even an old legend like Enrique.

Every empire eventually crumbles and Barcelona are clearly in a transitional phase. Perhaps it will require a new coach to bring the feel good factor back.

But we think that Barcelona should stick with their man for now and hope that the club can ride the present storm.

Barcelona fans: would you like to keep or get rid of Enrique?
