You win or you are dead says Manchester United coach ahead of next clash

Van Gaal: A man of character

Louis calls the title tune

Louis van Gaal has made his plans very clear in his latest interview and also spoken of the pitfalls of FA Cup games against the minnows.

After a crazy year at Manchester United Van Gaal has made the point that he wants to see his side at the top of the pile by the end of 2015:

‘2014 was very exciting for me and my players. I hope we can continue and for the fans we are number one in the league at the end of this year,’

He also says that, despite a bad start the game against Stoke once more illustrated Manchester United’s ability to fight back in adversity:

‘I can say that in general my players always fight to the end. We showed against Stoke City we had the team spirit to fight back and try and get a victory despite a very horrible start,’

And he is well aware of the no-win situation that he finds himself in ahead of the Yeovil match on Sunday afternoon:

‘It is more difficult to prepare for Yeovil than a Premier League team but we have had them watched and analysed because we are professionals and have to prepare games like professionals, because we know it will not be easy. It is a matter of you win or you are dead.’

With Manchester United 9 points back in the league there is still a small chance that they put a serious title charge together. But these latest public sentiments seem to suggest that Louis van Gaal is managing the expectations of Manchester Untied fans by stating that he perhaps doesn’t expect to get back to the top until next season.

Manchester United fans: can you see the club applying pressure to Chelsea and Manchester City this season or is a top 4 finish all that can be expected this term?
