Sensible

With Wayne Rooney’s original vice-captain, Darren Fletcher, only playing 49 minutes for the club this season Manchester United have taken the unusual step of changing their deputy mid-season.

After some displays of titanic proportions since his return from injury Michael Carrick has been made the new No.2 in the team hierarchy.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has been glowing in his praise of the player and it’s clearly a sensible choice. The Dutchman said:

“He brings a lot of experience but also a lot of composure,”

“He can transfer my philosophy on to the pitch.”

Carrick’s return from injury has coincided with the run of 6 consecutive wins for Manchester United and he’s generally been a brilliant unsung hero for the club during one of the most successful periods in their history.

Carrick has played 246 league games for Manchester United, scoring 16 goals. He’s won 5 Premier League titles, The League Cup and The Champions League during his 9 year stint at the club. At 33 he looks as good as ever.

Let’s see some of his better moments. Are there any Manchester United fans out there who still don’t appreciate this guy?
