Poor Guy

Liverpool have had a shocker of late and much of the criticism for poor results has been heaped onto the shoulders of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

The true test of a player has to be in times of adversity and Mignolet isn’t coming through his sticky patch all that well right now, having been dropped by Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers at the weekend.

Latest reports suggest replacements are being sought and that one deal has already been agreed for a January move.

The Express reports:

LIVERPOOL have agreed a £3m deal to sign Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa from Malaga in January.

Ochoa only signed for Malaga in the summer but hasn’t been getting a game and speculation has been simmering for some time that he could move. Based on the performance of Brad Jones at the weekend Liverpool are desperate for reinforcements in goal and Ochoa could be the first step.

Meanwhile The Mirror has reported that:

Liverpool are making an audacious bid to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech on loan.

This rumour has also been doing the rounds for some time and would obviously please the Liverpool fans. While Ochoa looks a decent bet Liverpool could pretty much solve their immediate keeping problem by signing Cech.

Keepers of this quality are few and far between and Cech won’t be prepared to sit on the bench for much longer. Interestingly, Chelsea are not completely ruling out a loan deal for their second choice keeper, according to the report.

At just 32 Cech would offer precisely the sort of stability and presence at the back that Liverpool have been missing of late. He’s not only great shot stopper but a top organiser who will improve those in front of him.

We think that Liverpool should pull out all the stops for Cech if they really want top quality.

Let’s see Cech in action. Liverpool fans: happy with either?
