You can never quite tell how a frighteningly good youngster is going to develop. The really special few make it while the vast majority go by the wayside.

But, based on his performances so far and the remarkable interest in the player, we are safe to assume that Martin Odegaard is going to have a big career.

Real Madrid are said to have already offered him a five year contract and Manchester United are also clearly keen – we thought that a deal would have been wrapped up by now. But it appears that Liverpool could have jumped the queue for his services with reports that he trained at Melwood this week. The Mirror reports:

Liverpool edged a step closer to landing Martin Odegaard on Thursday, after the Norwegian starlet trained with the club.

The 15-year-old has attracted the interest of some of Europe’s biggest clubs – in particular Manchester United and Real Madrid – with the Spanish giants tabling a five-year contract.

The report adds that the lad is a Liverpool fan and that might sway his decision. You might also imagine that, of the three clubs, his chances of a speedy elevation to the first team could be best at Liverpool.

This remarkable youngster is way ahead of schedule. He became the youngest Norwegian international of all time when he made his debut for his country on August 27th 2014 at the age of 15 and 253 days. That’s not a typing error! This guy makes Wayne Rooney’s achievements look positively ordinary.

Ex-Blackburn player and Norwegian international Morten Gamst Pederson said of Odegaard, soon after his debut:

“For his age he is unbelievable – his knowledge of the game is unbelievable and his technical skills are fantastic,”

He looks as if his future is assured as one of the great entertainers of the next generation. Let;s have a look at his highly enjoyable highlights.

Liverpool fans: should Brendan snap him up?
