It’s amazing the difference a couple of months can make in football isn’t it? At the turn of September the Manchester United fans were largely devoed that they hadn’t managed to offload Marouane Fellaini in the summer window. He got injured when a move to Italy – albeit a loan – looked likely.
But, having been outmuscled in the midfield in certain games this season a fit again Fellaini has been brought back into the side to add height and physical presence. And, in the absence of a better option, he’s done that really well.
Let’s face it, Fellaini is always going to be a slightly clumsily looking player. He’s all elbows and chest and he was never the most graceful player. But he really dug in on Sunday and gave his all. The effort level was much appreciated by the Manchester United fans on Twitter, many of whom believe that this is just the start and that the big Belgian is a must for the Manchester City game on Sunday – we have to say that, with Carrick still returning from a long term injury Marrouane does look a shoe in to keep his place this weekend.
Here’s what Twitter has been saying about Fellaini. Manchester United fans: Is Fellaini finally worth a run in the first eleven?
