With Stevie G in the autumn years of his career and regular suggestions that Lucas could leave the club, it will come as no surprise to fans if Liverpool focus on midfield investment over the next couple of years.
Emre Can is a very exciting prospect and hopefully he can kick off his Liverpool career soon. And latest reports suggest that another potential target is doing well in Portugal.
The Mirror reports:
Liverpool plot transfer of starlet Fabio Sturgeon from Portuguese side Belenenses
Liverpool are said to have scouted the 20 year old more than once of late and possibly like what they see. The attacking midfielder – who is eligible to play for Portugal or England due to the nationalities of his mum and dad – is also being linked to Benfica, but is said to prefer above to The Premier League.
He’s played 5 times for the Portugal U20s and turned out 24 times for his club side as he continues to develop at a rate of knots.
Brendan Rodgers has divided opinion with his transfer record at Liverpool. He’s brought in the wonderful talents of Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho, but spent heavily on other stars who haven’t made the grade. Perhaps now he’s looking at cheaper, lower risk investments who may blossom but won;t cost the earth if they don’t.
