While many Barcelona fans are counting the days before they can see the potentially devastating trio of Luis Suarez, Leo Messi and Neymar in action, there is other good news on the absentee front.
Because another creative player, Rafinha Alcantara has been seen back in training at Barcelona this week, after a niggling injury lay off. The young Brazilian is clearly rated by new coach Luis Enrique who has used the adaptable Brazilian 3 times this season.
The younger brother of Bayern’s Thiago played in the midfield and also up front for Barca since the season began. But he recently suffered a back injury and it’s taken time for him to recover.
At 21 he will want more first team chances this season, despite intense competition, and we think that he’s good enough to get game time. He has great skill and the fearlessness of youth which has seen him put in some good performances this term. He certainly didn’t look out of place in the senior team.
While he hasn’t yet been given the green light to resume playing by the Barca medical staff his presence on the training ground will provide a small crumb of comfort after the defeat to PSG in the week.
Barcelona fans: is Rafinha good enough to follow the other youngsters who have broken into the team this season?
