Having only drawn their first game in the group stages PSG will be hellbent on getting a positive result against The Champions League’s most dominant team over the last 5 years. Although Barcelona dropped off the pace in Europe last campaign they look as if they are well on the road to recovery with a wonderful understanding beginning to develop between Neymar and Messi in their second season together.
They shared 5 goals at the weekend against Granada and Neymar said:
“My first year was a case of adaptation but I now feel better and able to perform at a higher level,”
“We are combining more as a pair and I am very happy with the goals I am getting at the moment, which is down to the work of the team.”
Luis Suarez’s return after the international break is a mouth-watering prospect indeed.
But they face PSG on Tuesday with a strong squad to pick from. After being rested at the weekend Iniesta could well start – either alongside Xavi or with the hitherto quietly impressive Rakitic. Having won 6 of their 7 games under new coach Luis Enrique, without conceding a goal, don’t expect too many changes.
As for PSG the big news is that they are without their talisman and ex-Barca man Zlatan for this exciting tie.
So here’s our strongest Barcelona XI, fitness permitting, for the tie of the night.
Barcelona fans: let’s have your thoughts.
