Great kids

Some have criticised Manchester United for importing highly expensive foreign talent and letting go of players like Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck in this close season.

But reports today highlight the fact that Manchester United still have more home-grown players than any other team in The Premier league, with 5.

But will the current trend continue under LvG? Let’s have a look at the home-grown lads and see if they will be staying at Manchester United long-term.

Ben Amos – Looked decent in pre-season until he conceded an absolute howler from Roma’s Miralem Pjanic from the halfway line. In truth Manchester United’s Sam Johnstone, on loan at Doncaster, looks a better bet for a future at United – May Leave

Rafa da Silva – there have been rumours of a move for the young Brazilian but has made a good impact at Manchester United and will continue to iron out the creases in his game to become a top defender or wingback at the club. He’s tenacious, quick and skilful – qualities which are highly prized at Manchester United. Staying

Tyler Blackett – has taken some criticism in his fledgling career at Manchester United. But we most certainly see the potential in this young man. For a player of 20 years of age, and with so little top level experience, he has incredible composure and and strength. We really like the cut of his jib. Staying

Adnan Januzaj – there are very few Manchester United fans who don’t like the look of United’s new number 11. He has the sort of magic in his feet which may allow him to become a legend at Old Trafford.

He still needs to bulk up and could also improve his ground speed. But he’s a player who should thrill Manchester United fans for the next decade.

Jonny Evans – Jonny Evans started preseason well but has gone downhill to the extent that he looked like he was about to have a nervous breakdown against Burnley. At 26 this is his time to shine. But many more performances like the ones he has shown recently and he will be out on his ear.

Manchester United fans – which of the home-grown stars do you think will stay at Manchester United long-term?
