Transfers: All Out Attack for Manchester United

No option

Manchester United are struggling in the transfer market this summer. But it seems to be the defensive targets which are causing them the most problems.

They have brought in two left-sided defenders in Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo. But Manchester United have been desperate for a really commanding and accomplished centre back since the departures of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

First of all we discussed Eliaquim Mangala of Porto. Then we moved onto Mats Hummels of Borussia Dortmund. But his club seem adamant for him to stay and have made him club captain. There was a lot of speculation about Thomas Vermaelen coming to the club but he has since joined Barcelona. And the latest reports suggest that Manchester United are targeting Mehdi Benatia of Roma – but he could be on his way to Bayern Munchen.

So unless Manchester United pull a rabbit out of the hat and surprise us all with a player like Ron Vlaar from Aston Villa then they may well start September with Rojo as their only new addition who can play centre back.

If this is the case then we feel there is no alternative but to go for all-out attack this season. If Manchester Untied signed the likes of Memphis Depay, Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao or Edinson Cavani – all potentially available at the right price – they could temporarily mask their deficiencies at the back by outscoring the opposition.

Of course more defenders will need to be brought in at some stage soon. But there is no point buying for the sake of it. If there isn’t sufficient quality on the market then Manchester United should spend on different positions and buy defenders in January, or whenever the requisite quality does surface.

Concentrating on the attacking areas would also give Manchester United fans a huge boost going into the season and allow the club to return to its cavalier attacking attitude.

United fans: should the club go all out attack in order to compensate for defensive failings?

One centeral defender is a must to bring for united should we finish in top four. next is the midfield who would fit in the physicality of the English football(I don’t think LVG should waste time on Vidal we need to look for likes of shinegder or Dejong at least for one season-temporarily) and upfront Dimaria/cuadrado but Dimaria is no more than 40 million pounds for me. If we manage to bring three of this .top 4 is likely dream otherwise….

They’ll sign two players before deadline day, I’m sure of it. A central defender (Vlaar/Kolasinac) and Di Maria and then Strootman in January. If they don’t they’ll have a tough seasons with the defenders very prone to injury
