Liverpool have done some lovely business this summer and we saw in America that, if anything, their pressing game, high up the park, is now even more evolved.
While they ultimately lost the final game against United, they hounded their rivals out of possession in the first half and the opposition couldn’t handle it. Time and again United were rushed into mistakes and, but for the raft of changes in the second half, the scoreline may have been different.
But, for all the quality and youth that has been brought in, we have always maintained that the massive hole created by Luis’s departure will need properly plugging if Liverpool are to move forward again this season – a top level addition to add fairy dust to a really good side.
And they don’t come much better than Radamel Falcao. Known as ‘El Tigre‘ he’s exactly the sort of player who can make us forget about Luis and keep the team on an upward trajectory.
Reports today suggested that Liverpool were making moves to bring him in. The Metro says:
Liverpool ahead in the race to sign Radamel Falcao after opening transfer talks
..and The Express:
LIVERPOOL have opened talks with Monaco over a stunning move for striker Radamel Falcao.
Sources in Italy claim the Reds are set to rival Manchester City and Real Madrid for the Colombian star.
Italian sports paper Gazzetta dello Sport claim Falcao is available on loan with a view to a permanent transfer.
Liverpool have been decisive in the market so far and they will need to be again if they want to bring this guy in.
Because other reports have suggested that he could be on his way to Real Madrid.
Falcao is keen to return to Madrid having enjoyed a successful two-year spell in the Spanish capital with Real’s local rivals, La Liga champions Atlético.
Few top players seem able to resist the lure of Spain right now and Falcao is an absolutely top notch forward who will draw serious interest from some of Europe’s big guns. Because, on form, there is no better striker in the world. Cavani scores loads of goals. But Falcao scores loads of sensational goals. Watching his highlights package is truly hair-raising.
But if Liverpool could sign Falcao then Suarez would soon be forgotten and the club will be genuine contenders for the title again.
Let’s see him in action.
