Liverpool are going absolutely bonkers in the transfer market this summer and every few days a new deal seems to be getting close to completion.
Brendan Rodgers clearly knows what sorts of players he wants this summer and that bodes well.
His transfer acquisitions haven’t always been greeted with the greatest praise and some might be asking whether Liverpool have signed squad players or first XI members so far in this window.
Our Liverpool ‘best XI’ currently includes Lallana, but has Lambert, Markovic and Can on the bench.
But the reality is that Liverpool need a deeper squad for The Champions League, and for another concerted title push – these guys look good for that and will only improve over time.
But we feel that Liverpool need to make one really stellar signing this summer in order to begin to fill the hole left by Luis.
We have seen it at United and Tottenham in recent times. Manchester United never replaced Ronaldo and have arguably not been as good since. And Liverpool’s summer has been likened to Tottenham’s a year ago, when they tried and failed to replace Bale with 7 or 8 players.
And perhaps Arturo Vidal is the A-lister that Liverpool need. Reports on Wednesday afternoon suggest that Liverpool are preparing a bid of £42.5m for the wonderful Chile and Juventus midfielder. The Metro reports:
United have made Vidal their top transfer target this summer and reports today suggested that the club were confident of landing him with a mega bid.
However, the Chilean press now report that Liverpool have firmly entered the race for the player and are set to lodge a bid worth £42.5million.
Meanwhile, The Express reports:
Liverpool now ‘better placed’ than Man Utd or Real to pull off £42.5m Arturo Vidal move
LIVERPOOL are now leading the race to sign Manchester United and Real Madrid target Arturo Vidal.
This guy is world class. Even Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger implied as much when he said recently:
‘Vidal is one of the best midfielders in the world,’
‘He has everything. Incredible stamina, perfect timing. He’s a marathon athlete who plays football.’
With Gerrard on the slow wane Liverpool will need a new goalscoring midfielder and this guy has the lot. He’s unbelievable in the tackle, is a great athlete and passes the ball beautifully. But he also scores loads of goals (28 in 95 league games for Juventus).
He’s a dieing breed of box-to-box goalscoring midfielders and he may be tempted by the Champions League football that Liverpool are offering.
Let’s see the maestro in action. Liverpool fans: a wise investment?
