Liverpool are reportedly still interested in signing Ivorian striker Wilfried Bony.
Although Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has apparently already had a £12.5 million offer turned down by Swansea, he is still considering a bigger offer for the forward according to The Express.
Liverpool not ready to give up on Swansea’s Wilfried Bony as they prepare to up bid
The same source reports that Bony, who has scored 120 goals for club and country during his excellent career, has a £20 million release clause in his contract, but Liverpool are apparently unwilling to match that fee.
Instead, they will reportedly look to go back to the Welsh side with a £15 million offer with the hope that Swansea will accept the lower offer with incentives.
Bony has been at Swansea since signing from Dutch club Vitesse in 2013. He had an impressive first season in The Premier League, scoring 16 league goals in just 34 appearances (25 in 48 in all comps). His overall scoring level at club level is equally impressive, with 110 goals in all competitions.
The Ivorian, who got the nickname ‘Daddy Cool’ at former club Vitesse Arnhem, has also achieved 28 senior caps (10 goals) for his national side. He was part of the Ivory Coast squad for the 2014 World Cup and scored 2 goals before his side were eliminated in the group stages.
Although Liverpool still have Daniel Sturridge at the club, who can play as a loan striker, they will still perhaps be planning to bring in additional forwards as they look to compete in The Champions League for the first time in several years.
The club signalled their intent to have an overhaul of the squad during the summer even before they lost their star man to Barcelona in a £75 million deal.
Brendan Rodgers has already brought in a number of targets. Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana have both moved from Southampton for a combined £29 million. They have also signed Emre Can and brought in Benfica winger Lazar Markovic.
They are also being linked with other players such as Dejan Lovren, Jay Rodriguez and Romelu Lukaku.Nathan Gibson
Let’s see some of Bony’s best bits. Liverpool fans: worth the money?

Adam, if you are English then you are an embarrassment. To even have the temerity to call someone an idiot when you don’t even know the difference between ‘lone’ and ‘loan’.

So Liverpool on their spending spree want our star striker for less than the contractual release clause.
Oh and leave us short of 25 goals a season!

Notice 4 Rodgers. Three more players only and the job will be done. One central defender, one left back and one more striker. One defender should move on and NOT Martin S pls.

I don’t like the way you guys are talking in this site; note, don’t claim to know every thing. I think “loan striker ” according to the writer means ‘alone striker’ so you guys should stop calling him or her names. To our present squad we need two good strikers as Joseph Enrique injury is getting less severe.
