Barcelona: The perfect Fabregas replacement?
Barcelona could be looking to bring in Aaron Ramsey as a possible replacement Cesc Fabregas. According to The Daily Mail this week Barcelona are tracking the brilliant Welshman as part of their summer rebuild. The Mail said Monday:
Barcelona are continuing to show an interest in Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
With the possible departure of Fabregas to The Premier League and the advancing years of Xavi, Barcelona perhaps see Ramsey as the ideal long term prospect.
However, the Catalan club would face a struggle to land their man. Ramsey recently signed a new long-term deal with The Gunners. The Welshman is also happy with life at The Emirates and believes the club is moving in the right direction following their FA Cup win.
Furthermore, Arsene Wenger apparently has no plans to sell the 23 year old, who he sees as a vital part of his team. The manager has been developing a nucleus of youngsters for a number of years including Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Ramsey joined the North Londoners from his boyhood club Cardiff City in 2008. With limited first team opportunities, he moved on loan to Nottingham Forest in 2010 from November to January before spending a month at Cardiff.
In February of 2010 he suffered an horrific injury while playing against Stoke where he broke his leg. This setback caused his career to stall, but after spending time on loan to recover his fitness, he was able to establish himself in The Gunners’ first team once again.
He had an indifferent season in 2012 but returned to form in the last season, putting in a number of spectacular performances. Although he missed several months due to injury he still managed to score 10 league goals as well as the vital winner at Wembley in the FA Cup final.
His superb form has made him a target for a number of top clubs, with reported interest also coming from Bayern Munich.
Let’s see Ramsey in action.
