Manchester United probably won’t officially appoint a new manager until after the final game of the season away at Southampton this weekend.
It would be disrespectful to the legendary Ryan Giggs who is fully focused on steering’s club towards as decent a finish as possible at the end of this wretched season for Manchester United.
But if it is just a matter of time before Dutch maestro Louis van Gaal takes the reins at the club he will surely want to be appointed before he cracks on with Holland’s World Cup preparations.
So you imagine Monday or Tuesday would be the perfect time to install the man officially as Manchester United manager.
The Guardian has reported on Wednesday evening that van Gaal is likely to be appointed after the weekend.
Manchester United have delayed naming Louis van Gaal as their manager but are expected to do so next week. The club want to wait until the season ends on Sunday before making an official announcement about David Moyes’ successor.
Yet the delay comes as a surprise given Wednesday’s apparent deadline – imposed by Van Gaal, the Holland coach, and the Dutch Football Association – to have his future sorted out before he begins preparations for the World Cup.
So after the dust has settled on Monday our best guess is that Manchester United will make the appointment official next Tuesday, 13th May.
Manchester United fans. Will you be happy with the appointment or would you still like to see The Class of ’92 uphold their positions at the club? Thoughts please.
