One of the greatest qualities that Brendan Rodgers has illustrated in his highly promising tenure at Liverpool is his ability to coach the best out his players. There are few in the Liverpool squad that haven’t responded positively to him and we would suggest that almost everyone is playing at a higher level than at this time last season.
Two of Liverpool’s stand out performers this season, Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho, were brought in as rough diamonds by Rodgers. Both are way ahead of schedule in their progress and if the boss can keep developing such promising players Liverpool will be a European heavyweight again before long.
But could Brendan Rodgers work his magic on Ravel Morrison? The 21 year old Mancunian hasn’t really yet found a football home, despite promising starts at West Ham, Birmingham and indeed Manchester United.
His temperament has been called into question at times but it would be a tragedy if one so talented went by the wayside. Rio Ferdinand once said of the lad:
“He was taking the mick out of everyone on the pitch when he was about 14. The manager (Alex Ferguson) thought he was the best player he had seen at that age.
Without any real substance to the tale so far there have been a few murmurs that Liverpool could be interested.
And we think that the Liverpool boss could be just the man to charm the talents out of this lad. Because, make no mistake, he’s a show stopper at his best. He’s got unbelievable balance and poise, loves a dribble and can score from anywhere. Ravel Morrison has that touch of the unpredictable which only the best players have.
When Daniel Sturridge arrived at Liverpool many questioned the wisdom of the decision to spend £12m on a player who may never mature into a thoroughbred. But Brendan Rodgers has coached this kid into an undroppable asset for club and country.
Perhaps Ravel Morrison would be an interesting next project for the Liverpool boss.
