Liverpool want to sign a potential Titan – report

Even the doubters of Brendan Rodgers among the Liverpool fans, and surprisingly there are still fair number, must be quietly impressed with the way that he has got his team playing this season. At close-fought FA Cup tie with Arsenal ended in defeat at the weekend, but that shouldn’t dim the general sense of optimism about this team.

Because, while Arsenal have stuttered, City have dipped and Chelsea continue to grind out results, Liverpool have looked like the most potent team in the league over the last few weeks.

They are generally passing the ball beautifully between the midfield and attack. Their speed of play is putting even the best teams on the back foot. And Brendan Rodgers has managed to coach the best out of his Liverpool players. Players like Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson, in particular, have benefited hugely from Rodgers’s managerial style.

If there is an area that most clearly needs improvement it is the back line. Liverpool have some excellent defenders but they could well invest again in the summer market. One player who we think could do a superb job for Liverpool is Manchester City’s forgotten man Micah Richards.

Incredibly still only 25 years of age, Richards is someone who started his career with a bang before stagnating at an elite club. It must be highly disappointing for the man himself that he has only played nine times for the club this season – and only twice in the league.

We are surprised that he didn’t make a move in January in an attempt to try to get on that plane to Brazil. But reports today suggest that Liverpool will make a bid for the player in the summer. We say that The Guardian says that The Sun says:

Quite where Lescott will head next remains to be seen, but his team-mate and fellow defender Micah Richards could be off to Liverpool or Galatasaray, with the Sun reporting that the Anfield club bean-counters are preparing an £8.5m move for an out of favour full-back

The fact that the previous Manchester City boss didn’t write Richards either would suggest that there is, potentially, a major flaw in his game. But he has exactly the right physicality to be a top Premier League defender. He is quick, strong and has a massive presence.

We believe that Brendan Rodgers and Micah Richards could be a match made in heaven if the player comes to Liverpool.

What makes Man City an elite club? The amount of cash their owners supply or trophies in the cabinet? Please specify

Richards is indeed a very talented footballer and a major physical presence. However, he is also a major “sick note”. We already have our own versions in Agger and Kelly. We don’t need any more who can’t be relied upon to be fit for more than 15 to 20 games a season.

If we get him for nothing it would be a decent deal. and BTW who cares what the S** says.

I don’t think he would be able to fit Liverpools style of play.
