Shock inclusion

Chelsea have had a brilliant couple of months on the domestic front and look like serious title contenders as we attempt to ring on the buzzer marked ‘spring’.

During the winter break from The Champions League Chelsea, who were nestled in third place before Christmas, leapfrogged their main rivals to head the table. They remain in the FA Cup aswell, in what is shaping up to be a really good return for Jose.

But it’s The Champions League that gets the elite teams really excited. Chelsea had an incredible win two years ago and Mourinho will be eager for The Blues to regain the trophy under his management.

In news that came as a major surprise to some, Chelsea have named a little known 20 year old defender in their squad for the knockout stages. You will remember how Ryan Bertrand was thrown into the mix for Chelsea’s triumphant Champions League season in 2012. This season’s version of Bertrand could turn out to be defender Tomas Kalas.

The youngster, who made his debut for the Czech Republic in 2012, has yet to turn out for Chelsea and was out on loan at Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem between 2011-13, playing 58 times. He’s impressed enough to be given a place in the Chelsea squad for the last 16.

Let’s have a look at him in action. CLICK FOR KALAS
