Coffee at the ready people. It’s going to be a long day. The trouble is that coffee goes straight through me so I’ll be up and down like QPR.
Anyway, back to the football business for the day. Manchester United need a central midfielder. That’s hardly back page news though is it? After another limp performance in the week it is plainly obvious that United need a big character in the centre of the park.
And David Moyes has been strangely absent from public view over the last couple of days so perhaps he is planning a masterstroke on deadline day.
The player that seems to be on everybody’s lips right now with regards to Manchester United is Bayern Munich midfielder Tony Kroos.
There can be little debate about the quality of the player – he is absolutely magnificent. Anyone who plays for the Germany national side 40 times by the age of 24 during their golden generation has to be a top talent.
Recent spats with his club might move him closer to the exit door and Manchester United would certainly want to snap him up if he were available today.
Last night his odds of joining Manchester United in January were 8/11. This morning they have shortened to 4/11 with bookmaker SkyBet. This could simply be down to a lot of money going on the player to join Manchester United today. But it could also mean that sky sports have some inside information on this potential transfer.
We think that Manchester United urgently need to address the centre of midfield – it could well be the difference between a Champions League place and a wooden spoon at the end of the season.
Let’s hope for the sake of Manchester United fans that they can bring in this superb player today.
Let’s see Kroos in action
