West Ham clear favourites to sign dazzler in January
With so much hype surrounding West Ham signings this month – Lambert, Ba, Adebayor are just three of the names mentioned – it took until the weekend to bring in a couple of loan signings in Marco Borriello and Antionio Nocerino from Roma and Milan respectively. West Ham were in desperate need of reinforcements after some really bad results so far this winter.
While the defence could also do with some bolstering, the most urgent need was probably in attack, where West Ham have really struggled in the absence of Andy Carroll. Boriello will help in that department and Nocerino will hope to add quality to the midfield.
Another transfer rumour which persists pertains to Leeds United forward Ross MacCormack. The Guardian reports today:
Big Sam may have to look elsewhere for a goalscorer and could make an improved £5m offer for the Leeds striker Ross McCormack today.
The Scotland international who started his career of the Rangers has been a real success since moving south of the border in 2008. He had a couple of really good years of Cardiff City scoring 25 in 74 games. Then he moved to Yorkshire where he has bagged 42 goals in 101 appearances for the sleeping giant.
At 27 years of age McCormack is an adaptable footballer who can play out wide or through the middle. He’s a seasoned pro and we think that he might have some dynamism to West Ham for their second half of the season. Added to the loan signings he may be enough to wow the fans and improve West Ham’s fortunes. We think he would be a good addition to the squad.
Skybet have West Ham as favourites to sign McCormack if it doesn’t leave Leeds in January. At odds of 11/10 West Ham are clear favourites way ahead of second placed Celtic who are 6/1 to sign the player in this window.
Let’s see the lad in action. Your views on this potential signing please West Ham fans.
