Mata transfer developments – If The BBC says it, it must be true

Mata - The Enigma

BBC reports on Mata

Sure they’ve had a few high-profile problems in the past few years but the BBC remains a beacon of truth and objectivity. Always shying away from sensationalism, the BBC likes to report things once they have happened, rather than pre-empting stories or imagining how things might turn out.

So when the BBC updated its news article about Juan Mata last night it reassured Manchester United fans around the world that the deal was ultimately going to go through. They are suggesting that the medical will happen today.

The BBC says:

Spain midfielder Juan Mata is expected to arrive at Manchester United on Friday for a medical ahead of his proposed move from Chelsea.

United have had a bid, believed to be in the region of £37m, accepted for Mata, who is set to sign a four-and-a-half year deal at Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old is due to fly to Manchester by helicopter before sealing a move to the Premier League champions.

We will forgive them for the helicopter element of the story. That bit has got a bit boring now…

But the salient news here is that the player will apparently turn up for his Manchester United medical today. Which probably means that we will see Juan Mata in a Manchester United kit at some stage before the weekend.

With any luck, and for the sake of tidiness, David Moyes would ideally be able to announce the signing today.

We shall of course keep you updated on the biggest news of the transfer window so far. It does appear to be one of those deals that is just too good to be true for Manchester United fans, so obviously they want to see the deal done and dusted, before they really get excited.

I heard that Mata has asked Chelsea to match what United has offered in salary, with a view to staying put Also, he has stayed in London to consider a late approach from Bayern and Guardiola.
