Liverpool lost us money at the weekend so they aren’t in the good books. We backed what we thought was a super safe treble of City, Arsenal and Liverpool for home wins.
Turns out Liverpool hadn’t read the script. We thought that, with Daniel Sutrridge once more fit, Liverpool would stroll this one against an Aston Villa side suffering another bad run of results.
But Villa played really well and could have won the game. It’s annoying for Liverpool fans because, with Manchester United losing on Sunday The Reds could now be 8 points clear of United in their fight for fourth.
6 points is, nevertheless, a good buffer. But Liverpool will have to kick on because Manchester United will surely raise their game for the second half of the season.
More signings are necessary, if not urgent, at Anfield and two have been linked again today – one old and one new.
Mohammed Salah will be the subject of official interest from Liverpool this week, according to the Telegraph, who say:
Liverpool will this week make a formal bid for winger Mohamed Salah, who is valued at £12 million by Basel.
It’s obviously a goer this one. The second story pertains to Fulham youngster Muamer Tankovic. The 18 year old Swede has only managed one appearance for Fulham in the FA Cup. Nevertheless the 5ft 10.5in forward is on the radar of Liverpool, according to several reports.
The Guardian says on this one:
Liverpool also want to bring versatile 18-year-old Fulham utility man Muamer Tankovic to Merseyside. Describing the young Swede on their own website as “a player that can both find the net and create chances for others”, Fulham claim to “have high hopes” for the Tankovic.
Here’s a clip of Tankovic’ late winner in Fulham’s recent U18 win over Everton. Liverpool fans, are you happy to invest in youth or should you be buying more mature heavyweights for your title push?

Rodgers has bought some SHOCKING players, buys Borini Assaidi and Ilori for £21.000.000 Million Pound and has too loan them out because their not good enough.Add to that Allen Aspas Alberto which is another £30.000.000 Million Pound WAISTED,Mignolet is getting worse each game, and the LOAN signings have been nothing short of embarrassing !!! Far to much money has been waisted on average at best players,Rodgers and the Committee should all be removed from their posts ASAP.Forget Champions League Football with these SHAMBOLIC PLAYERS…

Stem, you’re a fool! The most shocking/shambolic thing on display here is your spelling and grammar. Proof, if ever it was needed, that standards of education are falling.
As for the points you raised…..
Borini was poor when he played for Liverpool but has proved that with more time on the pitch AND time to get used to the style of play in this country, he can perform. He was always going to struggle for a place in the team with Saurez, Sturridge, Coutinho & Sterling already fighting for places up front.
Assaidi was given only a few matches and showed good movement and creative flair. He’s still young, I believe, and as such, isn’t expected to be the finished article. I would have liked to see more of him on the pitch, but like Borini, wasn’t likely to get many chances to shine due to high standard players already claiming positions up front.
Ilori hasn’t been given a chance on the pitch at all, so how can you suggest he’s not worth the money paid when you haven’t seen him playing regularly?
All three players have been loaned out, rather than sold, because they’ve been brought in as POTENTIAL first team players, not the finished product. (Not because they’re not good enough AND never will be)
Mignolet has had a couple of howlers, but has also come up with some stunning saves AND played brilliantly last season (albeit for a different team). Petra Cech has also given us some howlers over the years, as has Joe Hart. Does this mean they’re rubbish too? Only a fool would think so.
Whilst I too have questioned the transfers of Allen and Aspas, I note that there is no mention of Coutinho and Sturridge. I don’t know what you’ve been smoking at home, but it seems to have impaired your memory!
Also no mention of Brendans success in bringing out the best in some players (Sturridge, Coutinho, Sterling, for instance) or the fact that he has Liverpool playing a far more attractive (and successful) style of football. The only thing about Brendan that I have concerns about is his tactics. (Starting tactics against Villa were completely wrong, but at least he recognised that problem during the game and changed his tactics while the first half was still running.)
Your butchering the English language and poorly thought out points (without argument or statistics to back them up) reads more like an angry 14 year-olds rant than a carefully considered post.

So, you claim that we need new owners, new players and a new management. You’ve forgotten to mention that we need a new stadium, too.
Furthermore, you have forgotten, how you are going to fund all this. Including the new stadium you might need something like 1 billion Pounds. Do you have that much in your piggy bank? If not, shut up.

Rodgers cannot make players and can only used already made players while owners believe buying youngsters which require to be shaped. We will always buy players and loan them again and buy others and loan them again. it is sad.

There’s a certain amount of frustration creeping in amongst Liverpool fans, Questions are being asked about Rodgers, his tactics and transfer policy. There is a need to strengthen our first team to ensure a champs League spot, as there is a realistic chance to qualify, i fear if we fail to add to our first team we will fail to do so. Rodgers had spent around £90 million pounds on players, plus, the money on loan players, most of which have been poor signings, that are either loaned out, or are unused subs. What do we actually have to show for that kind of money? also how much of that money can be recuperated with the the sale of the failures? I recon that about £60 million of what he’s bought has been a waste, just think , that’s THREE top class players! I for one never liked the appointment of Rodgers, as he’s never done anything apart from getting sacked from Reading! More and more fans are beginning to see through him. He’ll have to pray Suarez wi keeps scoring, and he gets some return on his investments, ‘cos you know what the Yanks are like, look what they did to Kenny and he took us to Wembley twice in the same season.

we had some fantastic midfield in November & December, Rogers needs to review his fielding and unless he stops fielding Gerald in a holding position, by May we shall be struggling to finish position eight, the option will then be to release players with champions league ambitions you cannot keep the for ever,
The last two games have been disastrous, we have now given our opponents alot of confidence, please Rogers lets not gabble with the team its long since we quilified for champions league

Who is this Gerald? I’ve been supporting Liverpool for more than 30 years, but don’t seem to remember him. Did we sign Gerald Asamoah and I simply didn’t read the story?
