Rodgers scouring the market for Liverpool

Like many Premier League clubs Liverpool have been fairly quiet so far in the window. There was so much speculation before January about huge money being spent but, so far, only Chelsea have really got their cash out, in terms of The Premier League elite.

But, in a reassuring message to Liverpool fans who believe that the club needs to sign reinforcements if they are going to maintain a serious bid for the title, Rodgers says that he is working to bring players in.

The Metro quotes him as saying:

‘We’ve been working on a number of possibilities that could strengthen the team and we have to wait and see how that goes in the next few weeks,’ he said.

‘The owners of the club have been great and if something is there to be done to improve us then we will do it. We are assessing a whole raft of players and it’s a case of seeing if they are available.’

The report goes on to suggest that Liverpool may have up to £25 million to spend in January. The same source says that Liverpool may be interested in taking Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva in the summer:

The Italian international has been linked with a move to Anfield by daily newspaper Corriere della Sera, who say Brendan Rodgers is eyeing a summer deal for the 26-year-old.

The fact that he has played 18 times for the Italian national side speaks volumes about his quality. But he is a real journeymen of Serie A and hasn’t settled at one club yet. Remarkably, he had loan spells at Livorno, Juventus, Parma, Cesena and Lazio before joining the Rome giants on a permanent basis last year. At Lazio he has played 17 times and scored four goals.

Let’s see the lad in action. Liverpool fans, does he boil your potatoes?
