Swansea may not be reaching the heights of last season in the league but they still gave Manchester City a proper game over Christmas to remind everyone that they are much more than a flash in the pan.

Under Micheal Luadrup’s excellent leadership they are safe in 13th position in the league right now and have an FA Cup tie against an eminently beatable Manchester United to come at the weekend.

Still, like most clubs in mid-table positions, Swansea will want to strengthen in the winter window in order to avoid the stress of being pulled into a relegation scrap.

One name that has surfaced today as a potential short-term signing is Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling. Nicknamed ‘The Magician’ from his days at QPR, where his skill levels left jaws dropped left, right and centre, Sterling has struggled to find consistency since he exploded onto the scene for Liverpool two seasons ago. He has returned to form of late with 3 goals in his last 7 games but has found game time hard to come by over the last year.

Swansea could use some more pace in attack to supplement the potency of Wilfried Bony and surely few Swansea fans would argue with the addition of such a prodigious talent.

Sterling needs to play every week and he’s not doing that at Liverpool. Perhaps a spell under the tutelage of one of the greatest creative midfielders of all time will help to add consistency and composure to his natural abilities.

The Mirror, among others, suggests today that Swansea want to do a deal:

League Cup holders Swansea are among a number of clubs to have indicated to the Reds that they are keen on a loan deal for winger Sterling while talks over a potential five-year, £8million deal for Salah have been taking place.

Kop boss Brendan Rodgers has always been minded to sanction a loan move for Sterling once an experienced replacement was brought in – and the 19-year-old was linked with Swansea back in November.

Let’s see him in action. Swansea fans, would Raheem immediately improve the first team?
