Despite January traditionally being seen as a very difficult period in which to sign top targets, we believe that this month could be the busiest winter window in English football history.
With more money swashing around the top flight than ever before and Premier League status paramount, copious amounts of cash will surely change hands in the coming weeks.
West Ham clearly need a striker to bolster their front line. Andy Carroll remains susceptible to injury and, beyond him, West Ham don’t have too much in the way of a proven scorer.
As for QPR they are outside the automatic promotion places right now and will want to push on in the second half of the season. Losing a striker like Loic Remy would affect most clubs, not least a club of the size of QPR.
One player who has been regularly linked with a move away from Everton is Nikica Jelavic. The Croation international (5 goals in 31 games for his country) has really struggled in The Premier League after a sensational start in England a couple of years ago.
He’s fallen down the pecking order at Everton and few would be surprised if he left the club in January. West Ham and QPR are now joint favourites with bookmaker SkyBet to sign Jelavic in January. At the short odds of 3/1 we think that he could well be on his way to QPR soon. With West Ham being linked to so many strikers of late it’s hard to decipher who will end up at The Boleyn come February.
Let’s see the lad in action. QPR and West Ham fans, would you fancy bringing in Jelavic in the window?
