With Liverpool scoring goals for fun right now you might not think that strikers would be top of the agenda. But, Luis Suarez’ majestic form masks a comparatively thin squad where it comes to goal scorers.
With Daniel Sturridge out, Liverpool are relying on Suarez’ goals more than ever and we wouldn’t be at all surprised if Brendan Rodgers went for another striker in the winter.
One who has been mentioned in relation to Liverpool and Arsenal is the Greek international goal machine Konstantinos Mitroglou. We say ‘goal machine’ in the strictest sense because this guy simply can’t stop scoring. He’s scored for fun wherever he has played and has proved his pedigree with 95 goals in 189 appearances in his career, with decent return of 8 in 28, for the Greek national side. He really does look like he could add firepower to Arsenal or Liverpool.
Responding to recent speculation about his future his coach at Olympiakos is quoted as saying:
“If he keeps on doing well, it will be hard to keep him.
“We’ve known for some time that there has been interest from many clubs, but that’s only logical considering how well he has been doing lately.
So, in other words, if the price is right the club may be open to negotiation. You never quite know how a foreign player might adapt to the speed and physicality of The Premier League but this guy certainly looks as if he has the tools to succeed in England – even at a top club like Arsenal or Liverpool.
With both clubs needing more depth up top he may well be flying his trade in England before too long.
Let’s see the lad in action.
