Liverpool to ‘seal transfer’ of forward – report

With Liverpool scoring another five goals last night, largely courtesy of the brilliant Luis Suarez, you would imagine that another striker is not a priority in January.

But the injury to Daniel Sturridge last week brought into sharp focus the lack of depth up front in the Liverpool squad. Raheem Sterling also got on the scoresheet last night but he has come in for a lot of criticism, from the fans, due to a lack of consistency. Iago Aspas is another who has failed to impress and he could well be on his way before the end of the season. It’s difficult to discern what the Spaniard is actually supposed to be good at.

Liverpool have been linked with several strikers over the last month or so and the mirror today reports that they are close to signing a brilliant young Swede.

The Mirror says:

Liverpool poised to seal transfer of Valmir Berisha despite Real Madrid interest

Liverpool are close to an agreement with rising young Swedish star Valmir Berisha.

The Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers has tracked the striker for months, and made his move after the youngster starred as top scorer at last month’s Under-17s World Cup

Talks are now ongoing with his club, Halmstads.

He has been dubbed the next Zlatan Ibrahimovic by some but he’s hardly even had any senior football for his club. Nevertheless the 17-year-old is very highly regarded and has apparently drawn interest from all over Europe.

At such a young age it is highly debatable whether he would be able to have an impact on the first team at Liverpool straight away. But if he is as good as some people are saying then perhaps his time is now.

Let’s see the boys in action.

I have watched Iago Aspas play for Celta in Spain. He is a player of undoubted class. He may be taking time to adapt to the EPL like many before him, but I know he will come good. Liverpool will be making a mistake if they let him go. Anybody who doesn’t agree, doesn’t know him enough.
