Arsenal in shock striker link

Alvaro Morata

Perhaps the best feasible option for Arsenal?

It’s old hat now that Arsenal need to reinforce their striking department. With Lukas Podolski still sidelined and Niklas Bendtner never likely to do any real damage these days, Arsenal only have Olivier Giroud firing for them upfront.

That’s not enough for a serious title challenge. Unless Arsenal are incredibly lucky, or get knocked out of all the other competitions early, then they will need another striker to keep things fresh in the Arsenal side come spring. They aren’t exactly desperate of course and players like Theo Walcott could come in and do a job up front.

But you would imagine Arsene Wenger would at least be scouring the market to see if a realistic and decent option presents itself in January. One rather surprising link which has surfaced today pertains to Real Madrid youngster Alvaro Morata.

Tottenham have long been linked with the deal for the player and it was thought that he may be used as a makeweight in the deal for Gareth Bale during the summer. But Real Madrid clung onto the youngster for dear life. With Karim Benzema ahead of him in the pecking order he still hasn’t seen much game time though this season however.

Although he is unlikely to be allowed to leave Real Madrid permanently Arsenal may find a temporary deal suits both parties perfectly. The Daily Mail says:

Arsenal are also being kept updated on the availability of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

The 21-year-old, who is also a target for Tottenham, may be allowed to leave on loan in January.

We think that Morata represents the perfect signing for Arsenal in the January window. It is unlikely that they will able to sign a top striking target, on a permanent basis in January, so a temporary deal for a really precocious young talent could be on the cards.

Let’s see the youngster in action. Arsenal fans does this guy boil your potatoes?

I think it’ll be a big mistake not to sign a striker in the January window. We have done well so far but that may not last for rest of the season with only Giroud as a recognized striker. Let’s face it he is not a world class striker. With world class midfielders around, a better striker would have scored many more goals. Let’s make the best of a great season so far, and hire a recognized striker even for a loan to become a real contender for the premiership and the champions league.
