Liverpool now bookie favourites to sign midfield gem

Liverpool are looking good under Brendan Rodgers. Many, including ourselves, were dubious about the Irishman taking the helm at Liverpool. After failed spells for Kenny Dalglish and Roy Hodgson we wondered whether someone of this status and experience could take the club forward.

Now he’s over a year into the job many of those dissenting voices have hushed to a whisper as the Liverpool man has done a sterling job at the club. He’s brought in some excellent players and generally got Liverpool playing in a style which we’re more accustomed to – it’s entertaining, attacking and largely winning football.

He doesn’t seem like a man who going to take all the plaudits and rest on his laurels though. This is a man on a mission and someone who will continue to develop the team as he sees fit.

One player who has been mentioned persistently since Brendan Rodgers came to Liverpool is Derby County midfielder Will Hughes. Just this week reports resurfaced about Liverpool getting closer to signing him in the January window.

Well on the back of these reports SkyBet have now made Liverpool hot favourites for his signature during the winter window. At odds of 3/1 Liverpool are much shorter than any other club to buy the player. With an ear to the ground on football transfers, through their TV news channels, Sky seemingly have an inside track on this one.

So it appears increasingly likely that the player will join Liverpool sooner rather than later. Perhaps a loan move will happen in the short term but it looks as if this guy could well become a Liverpool fixture in the years to come.

Let’s see the boy in action again. Liverpool fans do you think Hughes will cut the mustard at Anfield?
