Liverpool were one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the transfer market in the summer and there is no reason to suggest that they won’t be getting heavily involved again once January comes.
Liverpool have as good a team now as they did when they were last in serious contention for Premier League honours in 2009.
But, whereas the other big boys could probably deal with an injury to a major player, Liverpool are particularly vulnerable if one of their stars gets crocked.
So you’d imagine they would look to seriously strengthen in January if they are to sustain their Premier League challenge. But they obviously won’t spend for the sake of it and would only look to invest should the right quality of player come along.
A Bola today reports that Liverpool could be interested in PSG playmaker Javier Pastore. The midfielder has had an on-off time of it, since his £37m move to the French club, just over two years ago.
But there is little doubt that he’s a very talented midfielder and one who has the guile to improve Liverpool’s engine room straight away.
A Bola says that while Chelsea could also be on the hunt for Pastore, Liverpool retain an interest.
End of contract with PSG, Matuidi also appears in the list of possible reinforcements for Manchester City, while Pastore seems to be popular for Liverpool.
We think that Pastore’s craft would fit in beautifully at Liverpool. He had a superb first season at the French club scoring 16 goals in 43 appearances (8 assists). But as other players were bought his influence tailed off last season and he scored only 8 goals in 47 – still not a bad return from midfielder.
Let’s see him in action and let us know your thoughts.

I keep saying this, Liverpool should try sign Javier Pastore. He would light up the premier league and Liverpool would have Coutinho & Pastore in case one gets injured or tired.
