The Arsenal game was a real setback for Liverpool but they couldn’t have played The Gunners at a worse time.
Whatever Arsenal achieve this season they are unlikely to be in better form than they were when Liverpool came to town last Sunday.
The Reds should not be too aggrieved by the result and simply need to crack on now. They too have been in superb form and one would expect a result against Fulham at the weekend. Where games like this have too often proved to be banana skins, in recent memory, you would imagine it’s a question of how many goals Liverpool can score against a really poor Fulham side on Saturday. This is a Fulham side that got absolutely battered by an average Manchester United team on their own patch last weekend.
If Liverpool can keep Suarez and Sturridge fit it’s going to be a very exciting season for Liverpool. Only Aspas and Coates are currently on the treatment table which means a probable return to action for Glen Johnson, Jose Enrique and the fully-fit again Philippe Coutinho.
This is what the Liverpool boss said in the lead up to this one:
“We’re just treating every game as an important game for us in our quest this year.
“We just need to keep focusing and keep our concentration.
“We’ve built a platform this year but we have to keep pushing and moving forward or else it counts for nothing.”
So, if Rodgers opts for a 4-3-3 formation on Saturday, we think that Liverpool could line up like this:
Liverpool: Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Sakho, Cissoko, Lucas, Henderson, Gerrard, Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge
