Premier League fixtures confirmed

We are only in mid-june but already many are pining for the new season. The first morsel of the 13/14 season has been bestowed upon us with the confirmed fixture list being announced this morning.

With Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United all welcoming new managers there is a substantial feeling that Manchester United’s domination of The Premier League will undergo its most serious examination yet. Will David Moyes be able to continue where Sir Alex left off, or will the ‘Mourinho Factor’ help Chelsea to restore the pre-eminence that they enjoyed in the middle of the last decade, before internal wrangles lead to his departure? And can the impressive Manuel Pellegrini continue to escalate the status of Manchester City or will the lack of managerial continuity in the club go against them?

Liverpool also look as if they will become a force in English football again next season and with Tottenham and Arsenal also strengthening, we could be in for a real treat of a campaign, with a relatively small points total for the eventual league winners.

Manchester United will open up with a tricky match against Swansea City away while Manchester City start their campaign against Newcastle United at Eastlands. Chelsea meanwhile begin their campaign with a seemingly easy game at home to newly promoted Hull City. The derby between Manchester United and City will be on the 5th weekend of the season.
