3 players to keep Manchester United ahead of the rest

Most Manchester United fans can’t wait for David Moyes to get back from his holiday and start spending some cash before all of the main players in the summer’s transfer market get gobbled up by other clubs. With Falcao, Rodriguez, Neymar and Navas already spoken for, the pool of players, that can improve Manchester United is ever decreasing. By his own admission Malaga’s Isco looks set for a move to Manchester City or Real Madrid, while Robert Lewandowski may yet be forced to stay at Borussia Dortmund. So, who can Manchester United feasibly sign to improve the side and keep them competitive next season?

Iker Muniain

After exploding onto the scene with Atletic Bilbao last year Muniain looked like he would be a world beater. But after a couple of injuries he and his club have not hit the heights of last time out. But the lad is still just 20 so let’s not write him off just yet. Indeed he still has the lightning speed of thought and fleet feet to become one of the best and perhaps now is the time for Manchester United to make a move for the impish Spaniard. We think he’s a total genius. Let’s remind ourselves of the quality of the lad.

Thiago Alcantara

Manchester United’s need for a creative midfielder from the top drawer is obvious. While Muniain hasn’t been mentioned all that often, in relation to Manchester United this summer, Thiago Alcatara certainly has. With Cesc Fabregas stating that he wants to remain in Barcelona, Manchester United may turn their intentions to the 22 year old , also of Barca, who some say wants to play more regularly and is prepared to move clubs in order to get his wish. The lad is full of tricks and flicks and possesses the sort of velvety touch that we have come to expect from this glittering generation of Spanish footballers. The question is, would he really want to leave Barca?

Gareth Bale

If Manchester United hold onto Wayne Rooney they don’t really need another striker. But they do need more quality on the wings. Last season saw particularly poor performances from Valencia, Young and Nani and, if the Manchester United boss intends to continue playing with true width in the side, surely Moyes will have to look at recruiting another wide man. Wilfried Zaha looks like an exceptional prospect but United could do with a natural left winger to replace the wizard, Ryan Giggs. Signing the winger would require a big investment but, with players like Anderson, Nani, Young, Buttner and Lindegaard potentially surplus to requirements, Manchester United can generate cash to add to their current transfer kitty.

Whatever the price, Bale looks like the perfect investment for Manchester United and some would argue that the time is nigh for The Glazers to prove that they haven’t spent the Ronaldo money to service the huge debt that their takeover brought upon the club – a truly marquee signing to appease the United faithful.
