Manchester United fans will be interested to hear that reported target Thiago Alcantara has started the final of the U21 championship in Israel in blistering form. The Barcelona playmaker, who may be unhappy with his lack of first team chances at his current club, has scored a hat-trick in the opening 39 minutes of the final against Italy. The captain of the U21 team, who has been persistently linked with a move to Manchester United, has scored all of Spain’s goals so far, as they lead Italy 3-1 with just minutes to go before half-time.
The first two goals were scored from close range. The first an unmissable header from 6 yards and the second a rasping shot which the keeper could do nothing to stop, after yet another impressive, flowing move from the a Spain side which looks like a chip off the old block. Then a penalty was awarded to Spain and Alcantara slotted away with effortless ease. Will Spain’s international dominance ever cease?
Thiago has, in may onlooker opinions, played second fiddle to another of Europe’s hottest properties, Isco during this tournament. Isco has been the talk of the town after speaking of interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City in the last week. But, after 3 goals in 45 minutes, Thiago has well and truly taken the limelight in this final.
Manchester United boss David Moyes can only be more impressed in the player now, if he is, as reported, interested in taking the player to Old Trafford.
