Winger will cost 10m Euros – report

Let’s not forget that we have seen many transfer stories about Nani in the past. The eternal enigma has been at Old Trafford for nearly 6 years now and, despite some dazzling individual goals, he has largely flattered to deceive. Many at Manchester United hoped that he could evolve into the same sort of player as Cristiano Ronaldo but Nani has just never developed enough consistency in his game to be regarded as an integral member of the team.

There is obviously a huge amount of talent there but Alex Ferguson could never channel this talent into match-winning ability on a regular basis. So very few people would be surprised if, this time, the transfer tales were true.

Turkish club Galatasaray have, according to Sky Sports, made a bid for the winger and the news outlet even has quotes to back it up. Unal Aysal, the club’s chairman is quoted as saying:

“We offered €7million (£6m) for him. But they didn’t accept. We can’t give more than this.

“We are not going to follow Nani anymore. We can’t give more than €7m for him.

“They want €10million (£8.5million). Because of this he is not on our transfer list anymore.”

Nani has surely been given enough time to prove himself at Manchester United. It’s time for fresh blood. If Nani does leave it begs the question, who will come in? Wilfried Zaha has already signed and can play on the left, although he is naturally right-footed. Ryan Giggs can’t be expected to martial the wings every week at his age. Shinji Kagawa has been pushed out there on occasion but wouldn’t ever be regarded as the sort of out and out winger that Manchester United like to employ.

So Manchester United fans can perhaps start to get excited about the prospect of another left-sided player coming into Old Trafford this summer. Could David Moyes be about to make a bid for a certain left-footed Welshman?
