Striker set for £50m move

Long term Chelsea and Manchester United target Radamel Falcao looks set to finally end speculation about his future by signing for newly minted French club Monaco.

In something of a surprise move, Falcao is being tipped for the Ligue 1 newcomers in a deal worth in the region of 60m Euros. Chelsea have been persistently linked with the Columbian for well over a year, with speculation suggesting that Falcao will replace Fernando Torres at The Bridge. More recently, Manchester United were said have made a downpayment for the services of the player, who has scored 51 goals in 61 games for Atletico Madrid since his move from Porto in 2011.

But, money speaks louder than ever in football and Falcao will be offered an amount commensurate with the GDP of a small country to join this new French project, led by Russian businessman Dmitry Rybolovlev. In a week when James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho joined Monaco for around £60m The Guardian says that Falcao is to undergo a medical in France ahead of the move.

This development will be a blow to Manchester United and Chelsea fans hoping for a big signing to kick off their summer spend. But it should, twinned with Neymar’s move to Barcelona, have a domino effect on the transfer market as a whole, with speculation now intensifying about the immediate futures of Gareth Bale and Robert Lewandowski among others.

I have neva prayed 4 falcao 2 join chelsea bcoz of his age. After one season at chelsea, he might just become a flop!! I think lewandowski and cavani are better in all aspects. Their age and team performances though falcao once did dat against madrid. I think chelsea should go all out for lewandowski-24 yr old no matter the cost.
