Arsenal reportedly agree first signing – who’s next?

While we all know that tabloid reports can be as reliable as a 50p item from a pound shop, there does appear to be a lot of steam and hype surrounding the potential transfer of Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain to Arsenal.

Higuain hasn’t had his best season at Real, after fighting it out with Karin Benzema, for the leading role up front. But he has a fantastic record at the Spanish club having scored 104 goals in just 187 appearances at Real Madrid since he joined in 2007. He also has a delicious 19 in 32 for his country.

If Higuain, at only 25, could rediscover his A game, Arsenal would be getting a gem. At best, Higuain is a bull in ballet shoes – despite his great power he’s also an elegant and incisive footballer who can change games in the blink of an eye.

He does seem to have gone off the boil a little but he still has a decent return of 16 goals in 42 games for Real this season. Arsenal definitely need a heavyweight striker and the Argentinian fits the bill.

Pretty much every online outlet is banging on about Higuain today but most seem to have got the story from

Let’s assume the article has integrity. What else do Arsenal need this summer? We think that a keeper and an ugly looking midfielder would do the job. What do you Arsenal fans reckon?

Arsenal doesn’t require big spending to crown EPL next year. Replace Fabianski and Mannone for Julio Cesar which. Arsenal will get a experienced and highly reliable pair of hands for goal keeping. Cesar will increase the confidence of back 4 and our own Chessny can be guided to be a world class keeper from Cesar’s presence. Fabianski and Mannone can go to clubs in the lower table which will offer more playing time for the both week in week out. So it’s good for all.
Extend Sagns’s contract and give more starts for Jenkinson. We don’t need a CB because a 6 months or a full season loan with the clubs in the lower table can make Miquel and Bellerin will make them finished product and can be a regular starter for us from next season. What these boys need at this moment of their career is this and these boys are just a season loan away from success. More over Sagna has proved that he is good enough in central defence when required and rotate Koscielny, Vermalean, Metersacker and Sagna.
Bring in David Villa and Loic Remy in to forward line and sell Bendner, Chamak, Park, Gervinho. Villa can offer atleast 2 full seasons of 20 plus goals. In mean time Remy and Giourd can transform to be in the same category.
Gonaloan is the perfect fit for our DM requirement and let Coquelin for loan for 6 months where he gets regular football. Only these are the signings we need to make this window to bring back EPL crown.
Squillachi and Arshavin will be removed form the Gunners wage bill this year plus off load Denilson, Santos and Diaby because none of these 3 has the quality for a true gunner.
In short wage bill will be a lot less, dead woods are gone for ever and most important young guns get their chance to flourish and establish themselves.
Hope everything is perfect for us.
