Benitez: ‘everybody knows’ who next Chelsea manager will be

Departing Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez has pretty much confirmed the truth of the rumours that Jose Mourinho will be the next manager of Chelsea. In what will be seen as the dream re-appointment by most Chelsea fans, Mourinho will take control at Stamford Bridge once more, after 6 years away from the club.

Since Mourinho departed in 2007 Chelsea have remained competitive and reached the Holy Grail of a Champions League trophy. But a sense of instability has lingered throughout this period, as several high profile managers have come and gone.

After success at Inter Milan, Jose’s personality has grated on many in his time at Real Madrid and he has cut an increasingly isolated figure at the club. His departure is all but guaranteed and, in the advent of Benitez’ press conference this morning, it now seems certain that the self-anointed Special One will return to Chelsea to once again go head-to-head with the big boys of the Premier League – a league that he loves and obviously feels most comfortable in.

The Manchester clubs and all of the other title pretenders will sit up and take notice because they know that, with Jose at the helm, Chelsea are a force to be reckoned with on all fronts.

Here are the words that imply the dream scenario for most Chelsea fans – namely a Mourinho return.

“The next year there will be another manager,”

“I think everybody knows who will be here.”

So, Chelsea fans, do any of you not want Mourinho back?
