Manchester United to dismiss their Nani

Juventus have claimed an interest in the oh so frustrating Manchester United winger Luis Nani. Reports from various outlets suggest that Manchester United have received a £12m bid from the Italian outfit after turning down a £10m bid from PSG.

The Sun says:

‘Juve are ready to offer Nani £130,000 a week to leave Manchester United.

The Italian giants hope to land the Portuguese star for £12million and tempt him with a three-year deal on DOUBLE his Old Trafford wages.’

The same reports quotes an unnamed source from Juve as saying:

‘We are following this one up.’
‘Nani is an interesting player and figures highly in our future projects.’

If he does leave it will be such a disappointing end to Nani’s Manchester United career. He’s been at the club for 6 years and, while there remains genuine game-changing talent within the lad, Sir Alex Ferguson just hasn’t managed to iron out the deficiencies in the same way that he did with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Nani has the rare ability to beat a man and is also lightning quick from a standing start. But time and again he gives the ball away cheaply and generally makes the wrong decisions when on the ball. He does the hard stuff well and the simple stuff badly. Physically he’s a top player but he just doesn’t appear to have a great football brain.

Though many fans would still prefer Ashley Young to leave instead of The Portuguese, you do feel that Nani has had more than enough chances to show that he can be trusted in the biggest games. A couple of seasons back he looked as if he had finally matured into a consistent threat but he’s lost it again of late.

It’s strange that when you think back to the summer of 2007 Manchester United fans were absolutely wetting themselves with joy as Fergie spent £50m plus on a seemingly perfect array of talent. Nani, Anderson, Carlos Tevez and Owen Hargreaves all came to the club in a short space of time. In retrospect, each one of those signings ultimately proved problematic.

So, Manchester United fans, is it time to dismiss the Nani?
